Monster design contest 2026 Winners

Time is up for participating in this year’s contest. These are the entries this year.

Dengue by Helen Pink

Yamagio by JGP

Yamagio

Kasimar by Remco

Story: The Kasimar is a monster that lives in the desert of Asmara. It’s a bird like monster that hunts for prey like a Venus fly trap. It digs itself into the ground. Taking the appearance of a pond. Waits for thirsty animals or hunters and when they drink from it’s pond it uses it’s claws to push the prey into the water and drown them. It will then rise from the ground and feast. Kasimars can’t see underground and thus can only feel if someone is drinking their water before trying to drown them. Thus they cannot see their prey and are sometimes killed by a powerful monster or angry salamander. Docile Kasimars also exist and are often used by hunters as an unlimited water source and a way too bathe themselves in the desert as the pond on it’s head is Infinite running water. Kasimars have water element and use it only to refill their pond. They’re not very smart btw.

Appearance: They look like a sort of spider with 4 long legs. Yet their face is that of a parrot. Having coloured feathers all around it’s body. On top of their head is a stone pond with a running waterfall to make it extra appealing for thirsty monsters and hunters.

Manyuu by Remco

Story: Manyuu is a incomplete zealous pilgrim wandering Rebukan in search for followers for her religion. Having seen the Leviazan as it destroyed her village, Manyuu believes that it is still alive and that the Potoka hunters are liars. She believes the Leviazan will return one day and wanders Robukan to warn people. Claiming they must return to praying to the monsters to appease the Leviazan. She was once part of the same clergy as Wolf but resigned when she found out that they sacrifice people. Instead founding her own religion with 1 member so far. Herself. In every town and village she visits she preaches the good word. Much to the annoyance of people. She however never gives up. Believing that she alone can save Robukan.

Personality: Manyuu is highly zealous but friendly to people. She’s not aggressive but will defend herself. Especially when someone tries to take her book. She’s also extremely determinent. Even if only one person lends her an ear to her preaching she’s satisfied. She however doesn’t know when to stop talking. Often annoying people around her with her shouting. She sees all races as redeemable and thus is not racist against any race. Believing all are equal in the eyes of the Leviazan.

Appearance: Manyuu is a 16 year old tree-based incomplete. Only being 1.50 meters her limbs are made of wood and the roots go up to her neck. Her stomach and head however are normal green skin. Her hair is also made of long grass. She carries her self-made bible everywhere she goes. As well as a giant hammer which is literally just a giant boulder with a long tree stick attached to it. It’s a weapon purely for self-defense. And despite her small stature she has immense strength. Able to wield the hammer like it’s nothing.

Clawneck by Valentino conti

The Clawneck

The mighty Clawneck is an amphibious creature, which is on average 60 metres long from head to tail and weighting around 50 tonnes. Its more surprising characteristic are its fangs, which have been evolved to be moved like claws and together with its horn allow it to grab and pick up preys, using his slender but surprisingly strong neck as some sort of limb. It generally inhabits coastal regions with shallow waters, in particular coastal swamps and marshes, where it lays just under the water surface, waiting for prey to get within reach to try and grab them. While not a particularly fast swimmer and positively clumsy while walking on land, the Clawneck can move its neck with incredible speed and precision, grabbing anything that comes close to it, making it an effective ambush predators. Hunters are advised to be wary of Clawnecks: while they tend to be vulnerable after their first attack, they very rarely miss said first attack.
