Recently an artist was harassed for doing her signature character in a “deus vult” meme, under the excuse that the term is used by some far right people. Look, it’s a meme, memes will be used by people of every ideology with very different meanings. Context matters. This is Pepe the frog all over again. A few people using the meme with serious racist intention doesn’t make a funny meme drawing to be racist. Going this route we end with stupid stuff like when people are accused of being white supremacists for using the Ok sign.
