Actually in the cartoon series Korra says she’s never had a girlfriend before. Was super disappointed there was no kiss at the end.
From a writing standpoint, it’s a bit disappointing they didn’t flesh out the chemistry between Korra and Asami, didn’t have to pair them, but the drop from it was sudden.
There is comic book where she 100% dating Asami and I think it’s direct continuation, they even kiss

There’s no canon about that. I was the one who started making them as cousing in my comic and it somehow stuck with people, but this is a commission.
