Tired of people erasing all of the context why people complain about something.
This is especially relevant for culture war stuff. We have had very clear trends for almost a decade with lots of stuff like censorship of sexy characters, raceswaping, insufferable girlboss protagonists, etc. It’s completely normal that people have gotten tired overtime so when a new one appears they would complain. Yet everytime this happens, you get people trying to gaslight you, pretending nothing of that exists so they can claim you’re just complaining for nothing because it’s just one time, or just a small thing.
Sure, if you pick JUST that small thing completely out of the cultural context, it’s a non issue. If you acknowledge is yet another entry in a widespread trend, things are very different.

Sorry but I have to point out something you’ve mistook for deliberate in what I am sure is accidental.
When you hear someone say “First Gay Character in X” or “First Female Protagonist in Y” or any other, then point out to them the litany of things before that, they freak out at you and scream, call you bigoted and racist and anything else.
That’s not because they JUST want to silence you, but because you showed them that they’d forgotten the last time they said something along the same lines, that they’d argued for the same things and pushed the same agendas.
These people don’t have a grasp of long-term memory, they are so in the consoomer mindset that every single time they see it, it’s the first time – it’s almost as if they have no object permanence in their minds to realise this, so when you shatter their view and point out the truth, they are terrified and shaken.
It’s part of the sign of culture collapse and we’re in the middle of it.
It’s more like they do, but the moment Party says «we were NEVER at war with Oceania», it’s all memory-holed.
The original meme was an earlier version of “Never Been Tried”, obviously. It’s just being ridiculously overused due to nature of those who do it.

The bottom line is: the shills typically are dull, as such they have a fairly small toolkit of tricks. While the amateur cheerleaders are looking up at the shills and aping them.
