Since it’s a comic i had to summarize to not write a bible. But i can write a bible here.
Basically anytime people enjoy a game with sexy designs, or criticize a game for ugly designs, you have people trying to reduce it all to them being “incels”, “gooners” or whatever. Some do it just to virtue signal, others do it because they lack the critical thinking skill to realize what the issue is, in any case here’s the explanation as i see it
When a game has sexy designs, it indicates the developers have creative freedom, and they have a design philosophy that prioritizes creating a good product without caring too much that someone would be offended by it. This is a good indicator that the game has at least passion and thought behind it, and it has more chances of being a good game overall.
On the opposite, if a game makes the characters ugly, tones them down, or censors from the source or the previous game in the saga, what usually means is either the developers have a lack of creative freedom, or they have a harmful design philosophy that constrains their creative process, being for fear of offending people, or because their ideology has metastasized into Lysenkoism. This leads to the product lowering in quality, making it more likely the game will be bad.
This is why “sexiness” is a good first look indicator if a game is going to be good or bad, and why a lot of the discussion circles around it. Most people instinctively know all of this, even when they’re not able to articulate, so they understand that ugly or censored designs are a big clue of a drop in quality in their favorite franchises.
And of course, there’s also the very simple factor that humans are an aesthetic creature. A vast majority of decisions we take are done with great influence of aesthetics, and physical appearance is probably one of the highest factors for success or failure in a person’s life. It’s completely natural and normal for a healthy adult to prefer their entertainment to be aesthetically pleasing, without it meaning they’re gonna violently masturbate at every point of the game.
But as the meme says; people cry “incel” because sex is the only unit of value they understand; often because they themselves don’t have any.
