This is a petition for both pro and anti gamergate, since both may be interested in it. Those involved in the controversy through this almost year and a half may know me as the artist who does the Gamergate life comic, but in Spain, where I live, Gamergate is very little known, with few people in favor or against it, since they don’t really know much about it one way or the other. Here I’m more known for conventions, where I usually work as presenter, or do collaborations and talks.

The thing is, one of the big geek conventions of this country, the Cometcon, is interested in hosting a public gamergate debate, to explain Spaniards what the fuck this is all about and have an exchange of opinions about it. They picked me up for it months ago and we have been since searching for people for it in Spanish circles, and we have some pro gamergate, but we haven’t managed to find anyone opposed to the movement who is willing to debate us. There’s now only one month left and we fear the debate may have to become just a talk. We don’t want that, we want a debate, so i’ll now try with the hashtag and english mediums in hopes i find someone thanks to the extended reach.

The con is going to happen the days 5-6 of March in Oviedo, in the province of Asturias. If you are either pro or anti gamergate and happen to live in the area, or have the intention to go to the convention, you can have a seat in the debate, so contact me at my work email kukuruyo@gmail.com. The vast majority of people involved in the controversy is from outside Spain, but if you know someone from Spain who’s involved in the controversy, you can pass him this info so they may participate or attend the debate.

Of course we will try to record the debate and upload it with English subtitles. I’m not very knowledgeable in regards of social medias and forums, so It would be helpful if people move this around a bit, especially on anti sites, since I almost don’t know any and those I know I’m pre banned from.

Esta es una petición para tanto pro como anti gamergate, dado que ambas partes pueden estar interesadas. Aquellos envueltos en la controversia quizás me conozcan por el comic de Gamergate life, pero en España gamergate es un acontecimiento poco conocido. Es complicado encontrar gente que sea activamente pro o anti porque realmente pocos saben sobre ello. Aquí soy más conocido por convenciones, donde suelo estar de presentador, o haciendo colaboraciones y charlas.

El tema es, que una de las grandes convenciones en el norte, la Cometcon, está interesada en llevar un debate sobre gamergate, para explicar a los españoles de qué coño va todo esto, y tener un intercambio de opiniones. Me cogieron para ello hace unos meses y llevamos desde entonces buscando gente para ello en círculos españoles, y tenemos algún pro gamergate, pero no hemos conseguido encontrar nadie opuesto al movimiento que esté dispuesto a debatirnos. Tememos que el debate se tenga que convertir en simplemente una charla, y no queremos eso, queremos un debate. así que recurro al hashtag y sitios de habla inglesa para aprobechar el alcance extendido, a ver si así encuentro a alguien.

La convención es los días 5 y 6 de marzo en Oviedo, Asturias. Si eres pro o anti gamergate y vives por la zona, o tienes intención de ir al evento, puedes tener un asiento en el debate, así que contactame en mi email de trabajo kukuruyo@gmail.com. Si conoces a alguien en España de cualquiera de las dos posturas, pásale esto por si quiere venir a participar o atender.

Por supuesto trataremos de grabarlo u subirlo a internet con subtítulos. No soy muy ducho en redes sociales y foros, así que sería de ayuda si esto se mueve un poco por ahí, sobretodo en sitios anti, ya que no conozco casi ninguno, y de los que conozco estoy bloqueado preventivamente.
